Zaib Shaikh has been a Canadian actor, director and producer for the last decade. Shaikh currently stars as Amaar Rashid on CBC’s hit Canadian television comedy, Little Mosque on The Prairie. His latest project is CBC’s Othello, the Tragedy of the Moor for which he executive produced, directed and co-wrote.
His other work in television includes lead or guest lead roles in Metropia, The Dead Zone and Da Vinci’s City Hall.
Shaikh has also had the pleasure of working with some of the largest theatre companies in Canada including Canadian Stage, National Arts Centre, Globe Theatre, Grand Theatre and the Stratford Festival.
For the Whistler Theatre Project, a national theatre festival on the west coast, Shaikh was co-founder and has served as an Artistic Producer and Board Member.
Shaikh is a graduate of the joint University of Toronto/Sheridan College Acting program and holds a MFA in directing from the University of British Columbia.
He recently established the production company Governor Films with Matthew Deslippe.
