Wolfgang Petersen: Born in Germany in 1941, Peterson began in the entertainment business as a theatre director, later studying film. His first mainstream feature is perhaps his most known, timeless piece, 1981’s Das Boot, for which Peterson received dual Oscar nominations for writing and directing. Wolfgang proceeded to work on more mainstream fare such as The Neverending Story (’84), In the Line of Fire (’93) and The Perfect Storm (2000). Peterson continues to be highly regarded in the industry for his command of thinking-man’s action.
