WILDsound SHORT Film Festival
February 23 2008 Event


WILDsound SHORT Film Festivals are held every month at Toronto's National Film Board Cinema (150 John Street in the Entertainment District in downtown Toronto).

Be a part of the only festival in the world where the AUDIENCE is the main character of the night. A full Q&A session after the films are screened is the highlight of this event, lead by our Guest Industry Moderator. This is the viewers' chance to state their opinions on what they felt about the movie and for the filmmaker to get feedback on their work.

This Month's MODERATOR is National Radio Host (CFRB 4-7pm EST) and Movie Critic JOHN MOORE

The event will be Hosted by WES BERGER

THE LAST WILD OYSTER

The story of a 30 year battle between fisherman trying to save their way of life, and the owners of a 15 million dollar oyster industry.

A dizzying whirlwind that never ceases to amaze. Georges Schwizgebel has created a frantic race ending in inertia, a metaphor for modern life’s nonstop hustle and bustle.




ALCHEMY

At a trendy downtown bar, two mobile phones meet and fall in love. Now all they have to do is hook up their owners.





TODAY IS MY DAY
Germany, 20min Drama
directed by Lenn Kudrjawizki

A story about a homeless man and a lonely home who discover their mutual passion for music. This change encounter serves as the catalyst that shifts their lives into a new direction.

Eleonara lives in a mental institute in Caserta, Italy. She writes poetry and aspires to be an actress. Encouraged by a social worker, she attends an audition and proves herself.

Absence. Miss-ing. The doing of nothing. Unbidden non-appearance. Forbidden absenteeism. Break between two breaks.This film is about what a teenager does while being absent from class. This is the art of absence.




THE DONNELLY'S
CAN, 21min Documentary
directed by Rachel Thompson

On February 4, 1890, 30 local townsmen murdered five members of the Donnelly family near Lucan, Ontario. And, despite chilling eyewitness accounts of these murders, no one was ever convicted. All that remains are stories.
