Tyler Holtman shot the sheriff. Tyler Holtman marked X as the spot. Tyler Holtman makes movies.
Ever since he was a boy, Tyler wanted to perform and make people laugh. He began making short films with his brother Chase at the age of 8 and fell in love with filmmaking ever since. Influenced by “Weird Al” Yankovic’s music videos and Monty Python, he made wacky comedies that soon developed into more serious narrative shorts. He acted in several theatre productions in high school, which provided him with a strong acting background.
Tyler currently attends Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, a four-year film program in Orange, California. There, his short films have developed in production value, as well as his other interests. He also regularly practices photography and has published several photography books. He currently performs with a comedy improv group in Hollywood called Comedy Sportz.
“The Unbreaking Point” is Tyler’s charming short film, shot on 16mm. It stars Kurt Maloney as Edwin Morrow, the young man who wants to have his heart broken so he can feel like a normal human being. We see the story of Edwin’s rejected love life, starting as a child in elementary school up until his current cautious years wearing helmets, elbow pads and knee pads most places he goes. When his current “girlfriend” breaks things off with him, he realizes how he can get one step closer to a broken heart and true love.
Tyler’s next project is his Senior Thesis film entitled “Zeus’s Muses.” It’s about a group of performance artists, led by a Zeus-worshiping director, who is hired to perform a reenactment of the 1929 Stock Market Crash for a children’s birthday party.
While he dreams of directing feature films someday, Tyler Holtman just wants to make you laugh and bring some sunshine into your life.
