19 & 16, Hit it off fast.
Together forever? After 3 months, she passed.
Puppy love, I reckon.
Heartbroken just the same.
Didn't want to let it go.
Darkness was to blame.

22 & 16, Doomed from the start.
5 years of misery, so naturally you part.
Even so, part of me
Was left in it's wake.
Soul splitting's never easy to take.

28 & 19, Life was such bliss.
8 years of wonder, can't find more than this.
Somewhere I went haywire,
Reaching for that ring.
Darkness came, couldn't see,
I was loosing the real thing.

43, and love has gone.
Is it my fate to be alone?
I can't settle.
So I hold on fast.
Trying to recapture,
Those feelings from the past.
