The irony and anguish of 500 years of European and Native American relations, framed in a contemporary situation.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
This is an adapted screenplay from a piece of flash fiction that I had written. I wanted to see if I could turn it into a one-page screenplay.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
About three years.
4. What film have you seen the most in your lifetime?
"Highlander"
5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?
I'm pretty keen on Rian Johnson these days.
6. Who was your hero growing up?
Sam Beckett. He never made that last leap home.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Writing professionally and practicing medicine.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
Writing begins with the spark of an idea. For shorter works, I will define character and setting and then just free-write from beginning to end.
Then I revise and polish until I'm happy. Longer works require a bit more planning and heavy-lifting, and much more revision. I also write better in my boxers.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Native American history, genetics, medicine and armchair politics.
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
Your website. You take great care of filmmakers and screenwriters.
11. Influence people to vote for your one page script?
People should vote for my script because they enjoy wry humor exposing long-standing social issues. That, or they really like skiing.
