Nyland Forest, a famous businessman, celebrated and respected for his ethics, is blackmailed into negotiating the release of five criminals who are trapped in a bank during the largest heist in American history; to save his sister, who is one of the hostages, he must design the perfect deal, outwitting the police and making good on his promise to ensure the safety of the criminals.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
We were intrigued by the idea of a successful, law-abiding business man getting the opportunity to out-negotiate the police and become a hero in the process.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
We’ve been writing movies since we were kids, almost twenty years, now.
However, we’ve just recently begun converting our ideas into the industry standard screenplay format. That’s been within the past year.
4. What film have you seen the most in your lifetime?
Jaws Everything you need to know about filmmaking is contained in that movie... Sound, Score, Camera Movement, Storytelling, Character Relationships, Acting. It can teach you everything... except editing. Watch a James Cameron movie for that.
5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?
We would love to work in the industry. We’re not going to be picky about the artists. That being said, let’s go with John Williams. Every epic needs a theme.
6. Who was your hero growing up?
Pass. We haven’t found any heroes, yet.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Standing in the office of our production company, opening a letter from James Cameron, which congratulates us on topping Titanic as the Highest Grossing Movie of All-time. Actually, we’re a little more grounded than that. We know that you can’t necessarily get everything that you want, so we’re willing to accept the possibility that the letter could be from someone else, who already broke Titanic’s mark.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
We use a laptop for writing, a mead pocket notepad for notes when we’re away from the computer, and a tiny voice recorder for making notes when driving.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Individualism - treating each person as unique, instead of as a member of a group.
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
We’re big fans of any festival that offers free feedback for every entry.
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Organize all the distractions in your life, so that you can make time to write.
