SYNOPSIS:

This year, Christmas with the Whitfield's promises to be one they will never forget. All the siblings have come home for the first time in years and they've brought plenty of baggage with them. As the Christmas tree is trimmed and the lights are hung, secrets are revealed and family bonds are tested. As their lives converge, they join together and help each other discover the true meaning of family. Stars Loretta Devine, Idris Elba, Laz Alonso, Columbus Short, Sharon Leal and more.

Robert's Review

"This Christmas" is a semi-entertaining family drama, but it really doesn't shine much compared to others we've seen (especially Tyler Perry's movies). Instead, it's just an excuse to waste 2 hours and overall I came out of the theater going "Meh, it was OK." The characters were somewhat interesting, but the drama wasn't too engrossing and it really moved along pretty slowly. Had the filmmakers chopped a good 30 minutes off from this movie, it could have been much better and wouldn't have seemed to drag on like it did. Overall, if you really like family dramas then you should probably see this. However, if you're looking to be really entertained or emotionally moved, then this is probably not the movie for you.

All in all, I'd give this movie 2.5 Family Gatherings (out of 5). Re-watch value: LOW
