A young woman’s quest for peace in a war-torn vampire world.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
Vampires have changed. Once feared bloodsucking creatures of the night, they are now revered crime fighters, heroes, and teen idols. What if someone wanted things turned back to the way they were? Hmmmm....
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
Three years, since the summer of 2006, when my agent challenged me to write a screenplay based on one of my unpublished novels, “The Duplication Factor.” Oh, did I mention I write novels?
4. What film have you seen the most in your lifetime?
You mean more than “The Wizard of Oz” and “The Ten Commandments”? I’d say it’s a tossup between King Kong and Batman. Can you tell I’m not much for romantic comedy?
5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?
Akiva Goldsman!!!! Oh, and Steven Spielberg too, while I’m dreaming.
6. Who was your hero growing up?
You might expect me to say “my dad.” Sorry it didn’t turn out that way. I grew up in the ‘60s. Flower power. The Beatles. JFK. Vietnam. I could’ve used a hero back then.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Still alive.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
When I was working a day job, I wrote evenings and weekends. Now that I’m retired, I write all day, all evening, and all weekend. Do I outline my plot, draw my character arcs, put every scene on index cards and scatter them all over my office floor? Of course, (wink) doesn’t everyone?
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
My wife, Bobette, my Yorkie, Ginger, and our 33-foot Class A motor home (pretty much always in that order). Then there’s watching American Idol and Survivor on our 58” plasma home theater. Size does matter.
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
Most contests take six months or longer to announce their finalists/winners. WILDsound results come quickly. In this case it’s been forty days since I entered. Another 30 days, this contest will be in the tar pit, and the next one starts.
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Creativity is in the writing. Writing is in the rewriting. Keep writing. Never give up.
