Sydney, Australia had come out and declared that WB’s new superhero film Green Lantern will in fact be shooting in their locations. That’s all the news that came out in relation to the Martin Campbell film and no word yet on who is set to star. One would believe that this is WB following through on a deal worked out with Sydney to shoot the Justice League film there (which has now fallen through).
Angelina Jolie might get sinful…
It seems that a highly-anticipated sequel might be moving forward in the near future and there is some possible casting news as well. Moviehole is reporting that Angelina Jolie has been "in serious talks" for a role in Robert Rodriguez's Sin City 2.
The site is reporting that Jolie is in talks to play the female lead of Ava, who appears in the Frank Miller graphic novel "A Dame to Kill For." It was said that Jolie had talked to Rodriguez about the role as early as 2006, but now it seems that the film is finally gaining momentum and the "filmmakers are trying to get Jolie to officially commit to playing the female lead."
Furthermore – It’s been rumored that Dimension films has let their rights expire to the Sin City franchise and a representative for Frank Miller’s estate has confirmed that he is shopping it around in Hollywood. Spokespeople for Dimension say that their rights have not expired and that any rumor of the contrary is “pure hogwash.”
Sam Raimi might make Spider-man 4 in 3…
Well, 3D that is. Sony Pictures Entertainment's co-chairmen Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton have come out and said that the possibility of Spider-man 4 being filmed in 3-D is possible. Also, Sam Raimi has come on record about meeting with Kirsten Dunst to return for the next film saying he thinks she’d like to do it, but doesn’t want to speak for her. Raimi went on to comment about the possible influence the darker superhero films as of late might have on his next installment, saying; "I hope we don't react to these very good and sometimes bad superhero movies around us. I hope that we just [look] ever deeper into the truth of who Peter Parker really is—as a human being and the unique character, and that we celebrate that, which is a lot of the reason I want to make this next picture. I still believe I have an understanding of Peter Parker as the character that I have not quite put onto the screen yet,"
The Ninja Turtles are back, and in live action….
It’s been given the greenlight for development by the Mirage Group. The film is said to focus on the origin story of the turtles, which was briefly touched upon in the original films. The story and details are said to be heavily based on the original 6 comic books, keeping the characters loyal to their mythology. Galen Walker (producer of the recent CGI TMNT) and Scott Mednick (300, Superman Returns, 10,000 BC, and the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are) are on board as producers to help bring a balance of humor and action that the turtles are known for. Also, expect to see the return (origin) of Shredder. No word on whether the film will be a reboot (ala Batman Begins) or a prequel to the original franchise.
