As a writer I must comment on the strike as briefly as possible. Overall the strike is essential. A new contract is warranted. Writers slave for hours and hours and we are still the most overlooked members of the filmmaking body. Writers make people like David Letterman and Brad Pitt and the majority of everyone else who performs in front of the camera seem like Gods. Behind every great entertainment icon is a great writer. The end. On a lighter note… I had an opportunity to browse over the WGA East rules for striking which actually calls for other writers to rat on those writers who are breaking the rules…LOL…I thought that was hilarious… Mark A Keeton, Roland Uruci & Casting: I am falling behind on the production of my film "Love on the Brink" due primarily to the fact that I keep taking on additional projects and helping out some of my pals in the industry. I have a set date now for Dec 17 to start filming some of the scenes in Lower Manhattan and that's about it. I refuse to push the date up further. I was happy to bring aboard actor Roland Uruci I feel he will bring some passion to the film. I am actually considering adding additional lines for his character. I also cast a great actor named Mark A. Keeton whom I've worked with in the past. Mark is a very talented actor and I just can't get enough of hisdevotion to a craft. I plan to work with him on many other projects. That leaves me with two more roles to fill. Along side of production dates, my other dilemma with this film lies with the stressful task of finding a character to star as the mother of the lead actress. I am looking for a Caucasian woman between the ages of 50 to 60. I have done as much advertising as possible and not one, single person from this demographic inquired. I would hate to have to change the scene that this character is in. Other then the additional lines for Roland's character I would prefer to stay as closely as possible to the script once we are filming. So in the next few weeks I will be preparing for production andgetting myself in the mood to shoot this film. I plan to go to some screening in NYC and rent a few movies. I hope the strike will be over before then… Return from Joyce Jahnke - Strike to Joyce Jahnke home page
