SYNOPSIS: This situation comedy takes place in New York's City Hall. It centers on Charlie Crawford (replacing Michael J Fox in season 5), the deputy mayor, who has to protect the slightly moronic mayor, Randall Winston from those who want to ruin his political career, and from himself, cause he is constantly making an ass of himself and Charlie has try and make sure that his little escapades are either not mad public or have very little negative effect on the mayor. Helping Charlie is Carter, probably the least quirky member of the mayor's staff and Caitlin Moore. Stuart and Paul are two members of the staff who cause just as much problems. I remember when I saw the first episode – I was too young to understand it. I would look at my parents laughing and, seeing them do so, I would do the same. Then as days went by, I started understanding what a sitcom is while learning to speak English, I did my paintings while I had my first crush and now, I’m ready to embark on the journey of my life as an adult, while watching the final season.
I love Spin City and whoever you may be, if you feel the same way, let’s remember season 6. Season 6 includes a lot of love affairs. The first who starts one is the Mayor. He begins a relationship with a judge (Farrah Fawcett) whose divorce is not finalized. The public disapproves the Mayor’s relationship with a married woman but that doesn’t seem to bother him. He continues seeing the judge at Charlie’s apartment, without his knowledge. At the 2nd episode “A Tree Falls in Manhattan”, the Mayor accidentally chops down a historic landmark to impress his new girlfriend. The Mayor’s goal to become one again the Mayor of NYC becomes harder to reach when his opponent Wheeler (Tom Amandes), challenges him. He hires a Campaign Manager, Jennifer played by Denise Richards who happens to be in a relationship with Charlie. This relationship results with the Mayor revealing a secret to the press. Jennifer admits to Charlie she had a lesbian affair. As a result he fears that she might fall for Caitlin.
Before Jennifer’s arrival, Charlie confronts his feelings for Caitlin but takes a backseat when an old flame returns (Michael J. Fox). Don’t get excited yet – Mike returns to City Hall only to work on the Mayor’s re-election campaign and to break up with his fiancée (Olivia D’Abo).
At the 13th episode “O Mother Where Art Thou “ Caitlin and Charlie date a father and a daughter and end up in a family therapy session with them.
Their paths are separated when they start dating other people, but later on, their paths come together as they go on a few dates.
Except his love life, the Mayor is involved around his re-election campaign also; he hires Queen Latifah as his psychic political advisor. At the 10th episode “Fight Flub” after Wheeler suffers a heart attack, his wife (Elizabeth Mitchell) runs for the Mayor of New York in his place.
The Mayor continues making us laugh when trying to warn Charlie not to pursue his niece, having trouble sleeping and acting as a Celebrity bartender. Carter and Stuart have a rather stressful season when the later begins a relationship with the love of his life (Lori Loughlin) but objects to her being a surrogate for Carter. An episode later, Carter’s surrogate announces that she’s pregnant and that the baby might be Stuart’s.
One of Stuart’s perversities include taking Paul with him at a Victoria’s Secret fashion shoe. In the meantime, Carter sets the Mayor up with a woman (Judith Light) who has a very personal history with the Winston family . We’re used seeing Carter and Stuart making their own trouble without having anyone from the staff involved. This season, Paul is pretty much a part of their little group. You can notice such behavior when Paul tries to help Carter mourn the death of Rags. In the last episode “A Friend in Need”, Carter finally adopts a foster child that will not stop crying unless it’s held by Paul.
We’ll end the last season with Paul, whose dilemmas continue when arranging the Mayor’s girlfriend to arbitrate his divorce settlement, and his two appearances; one on Blind Date and the other on a controversial radio talk show.
As time goes by, I’ll experience my first love, I’ll visit America, listen to my favorite music and watch my favorite movies. I’ll walk under the rain and watch the moon and the stars. I’ll grow up and get old, I’ll open my box of memories from time to time and my favorite memory will always be there saying: I enjoy(ed) Spin City!
