SYNOPSIS: This situation comedy takes place in New York's City Hall. It centers on Mike Flaherty, the deputy mayor, who has to protect the slightly moronic mayor, Randall Winston from those who want to ruin his political career, and from himself, cause he is constantly making an ass of himself and Mike has try and make sure that his little escapades are either not mad public or have very little negative effect on the mayor. Helping Mike is Carter, probably the least quirky member of the mayor's staff and Nikki and James. Stuart and Paul are two members of the staff who cause just as much problems. But sometimes this saying just makes you roll your eyes and think the last time you really thought your heart would stop from all that laughing. Well, I’m ready to prove you wrong and stop you from yawning. My friends, I give you the timeless classic, award-winning sitcom: Spin City. This amazing, undeniably funny sitcom is all about a fictional working team including Deputy Mayor Mike Flaherty (Michael J. Fox) who is the team leader, excellent at his job but always in trouble when it comes to his personal life, Paul Lassiter (Richard Kind) the press secretary, a real coward and tightfisted when it comes to his own money, Stuart Bondek (Alan Ruck) head of the minority affairs, who has a great appetite for the ladies, James Hobert (Alexander Chaplin) speechwriter and somewhat naďve, Carter Heywood (Michael Boatman) gay black man, mocked by Stuart who eventually end up as roommates despite their differences and Nikki Faber (Connie Britton) assistant of Janelle Cooper (Victoria Dillard) who starts as Mike’s secretary and later becomes Mayor’s secretary. This mix of personalities work for the Mayor Randall Winston (Barry Bowstick) whose constant gaffes make his team put all their efforts to convince the population of New York that they made the right choice when voting for Randall as the Mayor of NYC. Spin City not only has a phenomenal cast of actors but also has well-known guest stars such as Stephen Colbert, Jennifer Garner, Gretchen Mol, Amanda Peet, Luke Perry, Courtney Thorne-Smith, George Stephanopoulos, among others. Season 1 is just as funny as any other season; traditional episodes that offer laughs caused by a outstanding cast who may resemble to your sister, brother, friend or even yourself. What makes season 1 so great and of superior quality, is that throughout the whole season, every episode has a story about one of the members of the Hall City.
Carter keeps going with his on-and-off relationship with his ex Spence, who is engaged to a woman (while in the very same episode, Mike starts dating again). At the 4th episode “Pride and Prejudice” a reporter (Gretchen Mol) is attracted to James, a few episodes later, James tries to break up with his high school sweetheart (Jennifer Garner). Paul meets the president of his fan club, Claudia Sacks later to be his wife which marks the first appearance of Claudia (Faith Prince). At the 3rd episode, Stuart makes a mess when left in charge of the office. Nikki uses the advice of a guy she is dating to freak out Stuart. She later dates a screenwriter that the guys don’t approve. The Mayor’s gaffes start by accidentally insulting gay people, continuing at his 50th birthday rumors that he is having an affair, a threatening to break up the reunion of a popular rock band and ends in a low key mode with his separation and a trip to Miami along with Paul, leaving Mike to cover for him at City Hall. So basically, if you want to spend your free time wisely and at the same time add your life a few more hours by laughing, then, you are making the right choice my friend! Enjoy Spin City!
