Spider-man 4 news….a duh?

Spider-man 4 comes out on May 5th, 2011. It’s also going to be released in IMAX, just like the previous film. We know it has Raimi, Dunst and Maguire on board. Yet for some reason, Sony Pictures decided to release a 5 paragraph statement reminding us of that. So just in case you didn’t know…Spider-man 4 will be in IMAX. Well la-dee….dah.

X-Men: En-rolling in 2010…

Like that pun? Took me a whole 30 seconds to think it up haha. Actor Tom Pocock, who was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine has revealed on his twitter that he’s lined up to be in X-Men First Class that will begin shooting sometime next year. There have been no announcements from the studios or film makers regarding this film, and it saddens me that we get news on this and a Wolverine Sequel before even hearing a glimmer of the Magneto film. *Sigh…*

Your ass will be kicked again…

Mark Millar is fairly confident, hell, he’s 100% green for the go that a Kickass sequel will happen….and the film isn’t even out yet. As a comic book guy, I will admit, this film will definitely find it’s audience. Although comic book lore has come to the forefront of pop culture lately, it’s still a subject of geekism that is mocked by the general society. So a film that does that with it’s own heart and soul will straddle the lines between nerds and the general audience. That’s what you call “market research” and I’m positive with Millar that this will happen as well. Millar went on to comment that the film ends much like the comics, with a teaser for the next one…

DC is running forward, but dropping the Superman ball…

This kills me, but now the new head of “DC Entertainment” a subdivision of Warner Bros specifically for DC Comics to film adaptations, has come out to say there are no current plans to bring Superman back to the big screen. Only one word can be used in response to this news: FAIL. Just because Superman Returns didn’t win over audiences doesn’t mean the character lacks that potential. I want to see other DC heroes get their films, but come on now, let’s finally give Superman a damn good film.

Michael Bay discussing Transformers 3

Michael Bay went in and discussed with Stephen Spielburg and other execs the ideas for Transformers 3. Granted he has 2 other films on his slate, but I can’t see him being replaced. And for you Bay haters out there, if the man was so bad, Spielburg, the greatest director of our time, possibly all time, would have let him go by now. Remember that.

Cage out, Waltz is in Green Hornet

…and a business is a boomin’. Christopher Waltz, most known for his work in this summers Inglorious Basterds, has stepped into the villain role for the Green Hornet after Nick Cage dropped out last week. This adds a whole new level of fun to this movie if you ask me and I’m even more interested to see it. Thank about it….Seth Rogan VS Christopher Waltz. Only in Hollywood man…only in Hollywood.

Bruce Campbell to have a bigger role in Spider-man 4?

It’s well known that Bruce Campbell, a good friend of Sam Raimi and the star of the Evil Dead films, has had cameos in every Spider-man movie so far. Well, recently the actor disclosed that he will have a major role in the next film but has no details on it yet. Look, I’ll be honest – I love Bruce Campbell as much as the next fanboy, but he’s just blowing steam. The man says this everytime he makes a spider-man movie. And his roles are important – giving Spider-man his name, blocking him from winning over MJ, helping propose to MJ. They are BIG IMPORTANT…..cameos. And this will be no different. I wouldn’t buy any stock in him playing Mysterio as many sites are running, so don’t get your hopes up.

Jeffery Dean Morgan wants LOBO

JDM of Watchmen fame, he played the comedian, hopes he has a shot at playing Lobo in the upcoming DC adaptation. To be honest, he might be a little too perfect for the role with he dark and gritty over the top badass humor. It’s a role very close to the comedian if you think about it. I’d rather this one be an unknown or come out of left field. Even JDM himself mentions he wouldn’t work unless he had Mickey Rourke’s body.
