My TV pilot is about life inside a nursing home. It explores the relationships between its residents, their visiting families and the nursing staff.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
Because I find the geriatric world a very touching and fascinating one. The elderly are rarely showcased on television and I felt compelled to dedicate this project to them and shed light on their generation. My inspiration came when my own grandparents moved to a retirement facility in Toronto a few years ago. My frequent visits inspired me to write this screenplay.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
Under two years... I'm an actor who reads tons of them but writing for this medium is a new interest.
4. What is you all-time favorite TV SHOW? (name only one)
Prime Suspect
5. What artist in the film industry would you love to work with?
Juliette Binoche, Al Pacino, Denys Arcand and Woody Allen.
6. How many screenplays have you written?
1... and counting (currently working on an idea I've had for a while...one of many that are waiting to be fleshed out)
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
On a film set or on stage. 8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
From what I could understand from my experience, I become a bit of a hermit. I don't go out much and neglect the outside world. It's not so much a set routine or a pattern but rather a total immersion approach to the writing.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Theatre, film, visual art, history, traveling and my family.
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
The WGC website and Martha Burns.
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
The only advice I was given: It's going to be a long haul, don't give-up.
