REVIEW: While many Manga films pride themselves on intricate, complicated narratives that take reference from science, ancient literature and beyond. Here though, Sky Blue employs a thinly veiled reference to current affairs regarding climate change and puts its emphasis on creating truly sublime imagery and art work. The world Sky Blue is set in is one of destitution and desperation. The world has been ravaged by war and pollution. As the human race has fought extinction a band of people have created the last city of Ecoban. It is a city powered by pollution itself, a novel and ingenious idea given the dire circumstances, however pollution itself is a limited resource and by continually polluting the planet only perpetuates the situation. Through this polluting action in order to maintain the seemingly idyllic situation of Ecoban, city officials come into conflict with another settlement Marr.
