You're listening an interview from WILDsound radio with Shannon on Monday June 23rd 2008Shannon Beckner is an actor and writer currently dividing her time between Toronto and Los Angeles. Shannon is currently finishing work as the lead in her first American action movie, Hybrid. This fast-paced thriller from the producers of Terminator 3 is full of great stunts, weapons handling, motorcycling and Shannon even learned how to weld for the role! Hybrid is due out in theaters in the spring of 2009. 2007 was a huge year for Shannon Beckner as she completed work on The NIkki Payne Show, a comedy pilot for CTV and landed her first lead role in a feature film with the satiric comedy Eating Buccaneers (in theaters fall 2008). She won her first National Canadian Comedy Award after three consecutive nominations with her sketch troupe The Sketchersons and appeared in the latest installment of the American Pie series - American Pie - Beta House. Shannon can also currently be seen as a series lead in Punched Up, the hit comedy series from The Comedy Network. Described as a "satiric mockumentary-based sitcom", Punched Up airs every Wednesday night at 10 PM on The Comedy Network. Shannon's other recent credits include The Jane Show (2007, Season II) and she just completed her second season playing Daphne on the hit Showcase comedy, Billable Hours (2008, Season III). Over the past two years Shannon has appeared in pilots and as a host on Toronto 1's edgy hit talk show Last Call. During this time she's also been seen in countless U.S and Canadian national television commercials and several MOWs including Charms For the Easy Life, with Gena Rowlands and Mimi Rogers. On stage and screen Shannon is fortunate to have performed alongside such greats as Colin Mochrie (Who's Line is It Anyway?), Scott Thompson (The Kids In The Hall, The Larry Sanders Show), Don Ferguson (The Royal Canadian Air Farce), Lucy Decoutere (The Trailer Park Boys), Jon Dore (Canadian Idol), Teresa Pavlinek (The Jane Show), Sean Cullen (The Sean Cullen Show), Nikki Payne (Last Comic Standing) and many many others.. When in Los Angeles Shannon trains with The Groundlings and performs stand up comedy both inside and outside of her apartment. She's a big fan of Runyon Canyon and breakfast at The Griddle. Pumpkin pie pancakes, amazing! Shannon looks forward to the opportunities the past year has brought, to continuing to work between dramatic and comedic borders, and to consistently breaking ground in both.
