SEAN RYAN

Sean Ryan is an IT professional and currently works as an Oracle Database Manager for a multi-national organisation in Ireland. His interest has always been in computers which fuelled his creative interest which in turn lead to his interest in animation and computer drawings back in the late 1980’s, beginning with stills and later moving to animation.

This only increased Sean’s interest in making movies. In 2003 Sean had a “concept” for a Sci-Fi movie (Utopia-1) but had never written a screenplay. His wife saw a news piece for a screenplay community on the Internet, where you could upload your work and get constructive reviews and help.

He read the first ten pages of the “Terminator” to get an idea of formatting. Using Microsoft Word templates and a few reference books, he knocked out the first draft of “Utopia-1”(Sci-fi/Action) in a week. The formatting was terrible and the story was littered with traditional mistakes. But he pushed on and learned/developed the craft though constructive feedback and hard work.

With nine features developed/co-written/WIP so far and over 40 shorts of various genres, the ideas are still coming and Sean finds the work as satisfying as the first draft of the very first screenplay.

Seven of his short screenplays has been optioned and sold in the last few years. With these scripts in either pre or post production in such locations such as Portugal, New Jersey, Detroit, Mexico, Ireland and Canada. The Lone Rangers feature has also picked up some interest in Ireland from a local Producer.

Sean describes himself as one of the hardest working none successful writers, waiting for that one break and hoping to be discovered.
