Sat down with Satan and his minions
on a solemn Saturday night.
He said, “Son, I see your heart's still bleeding.
You know I can make it right!
I can sew you back together
and release you from her charm.”
From the darkness called Maria,
”Only love can mend a heart.”
Smith & Wesson joined the table.
Carrying six rounds between 'em.
He said, “Son, you ain't going home
until the shots all are finished.
Know Love can't last forever.
Doubt Love exists at all.
Let your blood turn to fire
and sip away your soul.”
My thoughts turned to treason
As Satan chuckled with delight.
He said, “Son, we all live with Demons
Accept it and surrender; give up the noble fight.
With rain comes stormy weather.
Your woman did you wrong.”
From the darkness called Maria,
”Let my love keep you strong.”
Desperate souls filled out the table.
Four Horsemen saddled between 'em.
He said, “Son, there are no heroes here.
Our stories long since finished.
Know Love can't last forever.
Doubt Love exists at all.
Let your blood turn to fire
and sip away your soul.”
The hours swallowed quickly
as Satan vocalized his plight.
He said, “Son, no need to question your existence.
The answer's holstered to your right.
The solution’s quick and easy
your retribution swift and just.”
His premise was quite compelling
for an overture filled with lust.
Then from the darkness called Maria.
Her words slapped me like a hand.
She said, “Satan offers you salvation:
to fix the broken man.
You make a deal with the devil.
A deal you think I penned
but remember, only you can pull the trigger
with the hope two wrongs will make it right.
Or you can rise up from that there chair
and step into the light.”
Empty glasses furnished the table.
I flat-lined my last drink.
”Thank you for your patronage tonight
but I need some time to think.”
As I stumbled from that there table
I heard the darkness call.
”Son, know Love can't last forever.
Doubt Love exists at all.
Let your blood turn to fire
and sip away your soul.”
