It is about a 12 year-old boy who by circumstances out of his control becomes the Prime Minister of Canada.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
My writing partner, Borga, came up with the idea when we were finishing up our MFAs at USC. We both gravitated towards the idea and our lead character, Anderson, and just went for it.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
Off and on for 7 years though only more seriously after graduate school, so that would make it about 3 years.
4. What is your favorite TV show of all-time?
The Catherine Tate Show and Golden Girls.
5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?
Danny Boyle and Dan Schneider (Creator of such tween hits as "iCarly" and "Drake and Josh")
6. Who was your hero growing up?
He-Man and Aquaman.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
On a flight traveling from Toronto to Europe in first class.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
Borga and I write as a team much of the time. When we do, one of us generally comes up with an idea and then together we come up with an outline. The outline is detailed enough so we have a direction but not so detailed we know what the characters are going to say. I, Samantha, generally do the first draft on my own then we get together again and Borga gives me some notes. Depending on the script and our timeline, I may go away and do more writing alone or we will come together and write together. When we write together we generally go line by line.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
My dog and traveling.
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
The fact that it was in Toronto and I had heard about it through acquaintances.
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Not really. I feel that we are still novices and have so much yet to learn.
