11 Questions with Ryan Hanson. FALL 2009 Feature Screenplay Finalist
1. What is your screenplay about?
Lilium is the story of a reclusive man, faced with his own mortality, who tries to turn his life around.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
I decided to write Lilium because I was in a dark place in my film career and was thinking about how that in knowing you're dying, there is a certain liberty that allows you to do whatever you want and no longer slave to make. Kind of like a freedom from the mundane routine.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
I've been writing short and feature length scripts for about 9 years.
4. What film have you watched the most in your lifetime?
That's really hard to say. Probably Lady Vengeance in the last few years.
5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?
Walter Murch.
6. Who was your hero growing up?
Bruce Willis, I really wanted to be John McLane. 7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Living comfortably writing and directing film.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
Not really. I have ideas that I keep in a notebook and when the time is right, one of those ideas fleshes itself out in my mind and I know it's time to write it.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Directing. 10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
The oppurtunity to have my script read and potentially get made. 11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
