ROBERT MATTHEWS BIO

Born May 8th 1984, on a small island in England, Robert Matthews moved to California in 2003 to pursue his dreams at film school and graduated from Chapman University’s, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts with a BFA in Film and Television production in May 2007. From an early age Robert has had a passion for story telling as a writer and director for the stage and the screen.

In one of his early school reports a maths teacher said, “Robert seems to spend a lot of his time day dreaming”, and his life’s ambition has become putting those dreams onto film to entertain and emote an audience. He has directed more than 15 short films in various genres, 8 high-end commercials and corporate videos, and numerous plays.

His latest narrative films, The Man Left Behind and Dudley’s Raft will be appearing in festivals in mid 2008. As a writer, Robert has written several feature screenplays and numerous shorts, while he is also an accomplished editor and cinematographer, taking key roles in many student and professional productions.

He has also interned at Sony Pictures under President of TriStar Pictures, Mark Weinstock, and on set at Pinewood Studios under established producer, Bill Cartlidge, Robert now lives in Los Angeles and continues to write and work freelance.
