It sarcasticly explores some of the different sides of the immigration problem in US. Starting off with the effects immigration has on everyday life in the small town of South Park, it then humorously highlights the faults of both the americans as well as the illegal immigrants as the repercussions of the situation are uncovered to be larger and more serious as the episode progresses, ultimately leading to a humanitarian mission to infiltrate and destroy the Mexicans' secret economic strategy.
2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?
I like the originality and sarcastic humor of that show and the style of humor really matches my sense of humor. It's also one of my favorite shows and I really like the characters as well.
3. How long have you been writing screenplays?
This is the first one I've written. It took me two weeks.
4. What is you all-time favorite TV SHOW? (name only one)
The Sopranos.
5. What artist in the film industry would you love to work with?
Anyone who wants to do something different, is open minded, goes against conventional wisdom, and who doesn't follow trends and make things just because they could make a lot of money. It would also be cool to work people like Matt Stone and Trey Parker, Jared Hess, Fernando Meirelles, and Guillermo Arriaga.
6. How many screenplays have you written?
This is the first.
7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?
Writing screenplays, making films and traveling.
8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?
I don't have a method for writing but usually I get ideas and flashes of insight from seeing crappy ads and looking at all the cliches and trends around me, on TV, in real life, everywhere. Films and editing styles also give me ideas as well as music. Music is a really big influence on me.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Filmmaking, traveling, photography, big mountain skiing, exploring mountains, deep immersion in foreign cultures, microfinance, developing countries and economies, advertising, and brand creation and strategy, among others.
10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?
Mainly curiosity but I wanted to get someone else to read my script besides myself.
11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Not really, everyone operates differently I think. Keep a pen and notebook near you whenever possible. Whenever insights or ideas make brief appearances in your head it's important to write them down before they leave as quickly as they came. Sometimes you can memorize them and write them down later but it's a risky game to play.
