On their way back from a congress, two medical school friends bump into a college cheerleaders contest in Oregon. Party animal, Patrick Fisher, insists on going until his buddy concedes to 'one beer', but dutiful Steve Hillman is the one who gets seduced by local Amber. Alas it's a trap, he gets robbed and her lover, Bo Cooper, beats him up and abuses him. Disgusted with himself Bo shoots himself - his father is the local sheriff. He has a terrible corrupt hold over the town and sets the boys up as wanted 'killers'. Only Steve's girlfriend and local paranoid civil rights-obsessed loner Olie Parks will still help them to contact the already suspicious FBI.

Life lies beyond our control, and its beauty blinds us to its dark side. And as the weight of the world falls down around us, pressure begins to build, and every moment could become our last. And turmoil shakes the ground, breaks the foundation of our lives, and we struggle to live. But life is about to explode, and when the dust settles, will we find ourselves buried? Or will we be set free?

My life was no free ride, and nothing ever came easy. But I still tried, and I still failed. But this was my life, and I would make something of it. But how could I be so certain when everything is spinning out of control, and I am only a passenger taken for a ride through the unknown?

The rules of life are simple. Enjoy every moment that you live. Set goals and achieve. Find love, and never let go. And make life what you want, but the game that you play is not as easy as you think. And the stakes may be too high to pay, and when everything fits perfectly together, it will all suddenly break apart. And you will have to fight for what you took for granted. You will have to fight to stay alive.

Steve's goal was to become a doctor, but getting there would be the challenge. And jealousy reared her ugly head as his friend soared with achievement, where he was struggling, and lust entered, dressed to kill. But she would lead him into danger, pulling the strings of his life apart, but still he followed her out the door. And only when snared in a trap of corruption and lies does he struggle to return to his life, but there is no going back.

Once a man of promise, a rising star, he was nothing more now than a fugitive on the run, and the law was gunning for him. His story of innocence drowned beneath the cover of conspiracy and corruption, and nobody was to be trusted. But an unlikely ally might be his key to survival, but would it be too late to save him? And if saved, would he be proven innocent?

The scales of justice weigh heavily as life hangs in the balance, and innocence is blind to the cruelty of man. But once caught in their game, life is twisted into a maze, and no escape breaks the hope to be saved. But to surrender is to die, and to fight could win back freedom. And as the chase continues to bring one man down and to cover the tracks of the guilty, Pressure builds, and life hangs by a thread. And through this heart pounding, captivating story of characters ignited to life through two gifted men do we see humanity pushed to its limit and the struggle to survive. How far would we go for our freedom when the odds are stacked against us, and there is no chance of escape?
