Phillip Mottaz is a prolific writer who enjoys stating his opinion as though it were fact. Born and bred in Illinois, he moved to Chicago where he studied comedy with Improv Olympic and The Playground Theater, while forming the much beloved sketch comedy duo Superpunk. His film “It Had To Be Me” won the 2004 Videocracy Film Festival, while a film he co-wrote (“Time Traveler”) took top honors at the Midwestern Short Film Comedy Festival.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Phillip has written music reviews for TheTripwire.com and has written comedy for over ten years. Between signing deals with Comedy Central and selling pilots to Freemantle Media and Superdeluxe.com, he has written for CurrentTV’s “InfoMania” and performed with the improv comedy group USS Rock ‘n’ Roll at iO West in Hollywood. He has been a finalist in many screenwriting competitions, most recently with MovieHatch.com for his co-written script “Vampire Surf Band.” He has a wife and a tiny baby, both of whom he loves very much.
