| Peter Weir - Born in Australia in 1944, Weir began his career working in television, from which he spring-boarded to documentary work. Weir first met with cinematic attention with his feature debut The Cars That Ate Paris (1975), which became a cult hit on the drive-in circuit. His mainstream breakthrough occurred the same year, with Picnic at Hanging Rock. Gallipoli (1981) and The Year of Living Dangerously (‘83) cemented his - and Mel Gibson’s - international reputation. Several respected and successful films have followed since, for which Peter has received six Oscar nominations. |
