Peter Byck’s short film, “I-Nasty” is his most current work.
Peter Byck's first feature, "GARBAGE," traveled the indie film circuit for three years, winning the SXSW Best Documentary Award, screening at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and playing at many festivals both in the US and Europe, including the Rotterdam Film Festival. The Christian Science Monitor called "GARBAGE: "One part "Roger & Me," one part "60 Minutes," and one part "This Is Spinal Tap", stitched together with a sense of witty serendipity."
After spending six years making "Garbage," Byck decided to make extremely short documentaries, ranging from 30 - 45 seconds. These three docs, "Eddie & Carl," "Dumpster Diver," and "Gun Man" can be seen at ralphtheroadie.com.
Byck is cuurently filming his new documentary feature on global warming solutions, “Carbon Nation.”
Byck is also currently maintaing for his long running web show, "Ralph The Roadie" (ralphtheroadie.com) which stars comedian Chris Bonno. The site has already been selected as fierce.com's site of the day. In addition to Byck's directing work, he is also a sought after documentary film editor. His DVD bonus material Editing credits include “Return Of The King,” "Matrix: Revisited," “The West Wing” – Seasons 1, 2 & 3, “King Kong” and “er” seasons 3 & 4. As a narrative editor, Byck cut HBO's "Borderline" and the indie film, "Paper Cut". Byck has been editing TV shows, documentaries and music videos for sixteen years.
In years past, Byck directed movie specials for MTV ("X Files", "Enemy of the State", "Never Been Kissed", "Face/Off", "Sliding Doors"). And he has directed a few music videos.
Byck has been a guest journalist for indiewire.com's Sundance Film Festival coverage: in 1998; he was the food critic, in 1999, the music critic, in 2000, the fashion critic and in 2001, the swag critic. Byck has also contributed reviews to ifilm.com and articles to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
