Born in California in 1970, Paul Thomas Anderson was exposed to film through his father, who hosted a horror show and was an avid movie buff.
This passion ignited in the son, Paul was soon making amateur films, and working in the industry as a PA and grip. His first feature film was Hard Eight, featuring what would be become the hallmarks of Anderson’s pieces – strong ensembles, and themes of alienation.
He is best-known for 1997’s Boogie Nights, and the recent There Will Be Blood.
