11 Questions with PAT KIELY. FALL 2009 TV Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your teleplay about?

Cheryl is disappointed when Larry buys a new car that's the exact same as their old one.

2. Why did you decide to write this teleplay?

I'm a big fan of Curb and wanted to see if I could capture the show.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

7 years.

4. What is your favorite TV show of all-time?

Seinfeld

5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?

Larry David

6. Who was your hero growing up?

Eddie Murphy

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

On a Go-Fast boat with a mojito

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

It's a series of stages. Getting ideas on the board, breaking stories, determining the structure, putting scenes on cue cards, laying them out, writing, realizing it sucks, and doing it all again, over and over.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Directing, acting & producing

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Work hard.
