Orson Welles Movies – Born in Wisconsin in 1915, Welles childhood was distinguished by arts and travel. Before age twenty he debuted on stage and radio, and made his first short film. By 25 Welles penned, starred in and directed Citizen Cane (’41), only his third movie – a film generally regarded as the best ever made (and for which he won the screenplay Oscar). Many of Orson’s subsequent films (including Cane) were commercial failures; however, in his later career Welles became considered one of the great American filmmakers. Orson Welles died in 1985.
