CBS led the field in nominations for the 35th annual daytime Emmy Awards, announced Wednesday ayem on ABC’s “The View.”

CBS raked in the most noms with 56, ahead of PBS (44), ABC (39) and syndicated shows (28). NBC and Disney Channel were next in the ranking with 14 and 13, respectively, with Disney leading the kids’ nets.

CBS’ long-running sudser “The Young and the Restless” drew 17 mentions, making it the most-nominated show, while the net’s “Guiding Light” tied with ABC’s “One Life to Live” and PBS perennial “Sesame Street” for a total of 13 noms each. CBS’ “As the World Turns” was next with 12.

CBS and ABC divide the daytime drama series competish, with the Eye’s “The Young and the Restless” and “Guiding Light” battling the Alphabet’s “General Hospital” and “One Life to Live.”

The Eye’s soaps also swept the noms for lead actress in a drama, with two each for “The Young and the Restless” (Michelle Stafford, Jeanne Cooper) and “Guiding Light” (Crystal Chappell, Nicole Forester) and one for “As the World Turns” (Maura West).

The net also dominated the supporting actress and actor and young actor and actress fields, taking four of the five slots in each of the four categories.

“The Young and the Restless” clamed two lead drama actor bids (Christian Le Blanc and Peter Bergman). “General Hospital’s” Anthony Geary, Thaaro Penghlis of NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” and “All My Children’s” David Canary round out the field.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” took the most noms for a talkshow (eight), just ahead of “The View” (seven). Noms for top talker went to “Ellen,” the syndie “Rachael Ray” and “The View.” DeGeneres is up for talkshow host honors, competing against Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa of the syndie “Live With Regis and Kelly” and the quintet from “The View”: Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd.

The Emmys added a category this year: legal/courtroom program. All the noms went to syndicated shows, including bellwether legal eagle “Judge Judy” and the long-running “People’s Court.” Tyro “Judge David Young” also received a mention, as did “Cristina’s Court” and the recently canceled “Judge Hatchett Show.”

In the gameshow category, Discovery Channel’s “Cash Cab” is up against CBS’ “The Price Is Right” and the syndie “Jeopardy.” The competish for gameshow host is among “Cash Cab’s” Ben Bailey, “Wheel of Fortune’s” Pat Sajak and “Jeopardy’s” Alex Trebek.

As previously announced, the lifetime achievement award will be presented to Philbin of “Live With Regis and Kelly.”
