The long-running ABC serial already set the Daytime Emmy mark for most wins in the category when it bagged its ninth trophy in 2006. Ellen DeGeneres claimed her fourth consecutive win for talk show host, but the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” saw its streak of wins since 2004 come to an end as rival syndie “Rachael Ray” prevailed in the entertainment talk show category. Syndie “Tyra Banks Show” won in the informative talk show heat during the ceremony hosted by “The View’s” Sherri Shepherd and “All My Children’s” Ryan Lavery at the Kodak Theater. Lead drama thesp honors went to two veteran sudser stars, “General Hospital’s” Anthony Geary and “The Young and the Restless’” Jeanne Cooper. It’s the sixth win for Geary and Cooper’s first after nine noms. (Cooper earned a Daytime Emmy lifetime achievement kudo in 2004.) The verdict in the legal show category went to syndie “Cristina’s Court,” hosted by Cristina Perez. ABC, which telecast Friday’s ceremony, led among nets overall with a total of 14 wins spread between Friday’s ceremony and the June 13 Creative Arts ceremony. CBS was second with 13, followed by syndie programs (11) and PBS (10.) Among programs, ABC’s “One Life to Live” collected the most trophies this year with a total of six wins, including wins on Friday for writing and directing in a drama series. “Guiding Light” and “Ellen DeGeneres” each bagged four Emmys. “Guiding Light’s” wins included the kudos for supporting actress (Gina Tognoni) and younger actor (Tom Pelphrey). Kristoff St. John of CBS’ “Young and the Restless” won for supporting actor; Jennifer Landon of CBS’ “As the World Turns” took the younger actress honor.
