Mr. Bean’s Holiday

Synopsis:

In his latest misadventure, Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson)--the nearly wordless misfit who seems to be followed by a trail of pratfalls and hijinks--goes on holiday to the French Riviera and becomes ensnared in a European adventure of cinematic proportions. Tired of the dreary, wet London weather, Bean packs up his suitcase and camcorder to head to Cannes for some sun on the beach. But his trip doesn't go as smoothly as he had hoped when the bumbling Bean falls face first into a series of mishaps and fortunate coincidences, far-fetched enough to make his own avant-garde film. Wrongly thought to be both kidnapper and acclaimed filmmaker, he has some serious explaining to do after wreaking havoc across the French countryside and arriving at his vacation spot with a Romanian filmmaker's precocious son and an aspiring actress in tow. Will Bean be arrested by the gendarmes or end up winning the Palme d'Or?

Robert's Review

Mr. Bean has been and always will be good in small doses. However, watching him in a full-length movie is like dry-swallowing a very large pill. There are some incredibly fun and entertaining bits throughout "Mr. Bean's Holiday," but the stuff in between isn't all that interesting. The best part of watching this movie for me was watching Brett squirm and whine the entire time! He really wanted to walk out of the movie, but he wouldn't leave without me. LOL! It was far more entertaining than the movie was, but in truth I thought "Mr. Bean's Holiday" was much actually more enjoyable than any of the other terrible movies I've seen this weekend. At least it has some good laughs throughout the movie and it had an air of fun and quirkiness to it. Overall, if you're a big Mr. Bean fan then you might really enjoy this movie. However, if you have no idea who Mr. Bean is, you're probably better off skipping this movie.

All in all, I'd give this movie 2 Cannes Film Festivals (Out of 5). Re-watch value: NONE (seriously… once was plenty).

Brett's Review

I have seen thousands of movies and not one has made me want to walk out more than "Mr. Beans Holiday". This is by far the stupidest, most retarded movie I have ever seen in my life. The ending couldn't come fast enough for me, when the credits rolled at the end I was up and running for the exit. I do appreciate British humor, and I really thought Emma de Caunes did a really good job, but it wasn't enough to really keep my interest.

Overall Rating: 1 Cannes Trip Re-Watch Value: NONE (not purchasing DVD.)

Trivia: The original idea for "Mr. Bean's Holiday" was Mr. Bean going to Australia instead of France.: In his latest misadventure, Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson)--the nearly wordless misfit who seems to be followed by a trail of pratfalls and hijinks--goes on holiday to the French Riviera and becomes ensnared in a European adventure of cinematic proportions.
