All-European mutt
A little East, a little West
A look of the South and the deep South-East
His mouth turns up at the corner as I walk by
His eyes flash
It should be an invitation – in my mind it would be respectful
It would say – “who are you that you have disturbed my thoughts
by walking by?
Would you care to sit and know me?”
Instead, it says, “You are a woman, and I can have you”
It says, “On your knees, crawl to me. This is your place,
beneath my heel.”
A negotiation – my fantasy is equality
That if I were to let my mouth turn up at the corner as he walks by
He would not hear in his head a high-pitched parody of my true voice
Saying, “Come, put me under your heel. I am woman, you can have me.”
Leer a little more – I still have my dignity
Or what passes as such
