Born and raised in southern Ontario, Mike Weiss studied Classical Animation at Oakville's Sheridan College. In the fall of his graduating year, he performed the signal film at the Ottawa International Animation Festival in the scratch-on-film troupe 'Scratch Track'.
Since then Mike has worked on and helped to initiate several short films, music videos, and television programs utilizing a variety of animation techniques (though he prefers to work in stop motion). In 2005 he had the honour of animating on a Ray Harryhausen production, and was tickled to receive professional accolades from the legend himself.
Mike also enjoys teaching animation workshops in schools and in festivals, largely introducing the fundamentals of animation to kids through flip books and thaumatropes. In his spare time, he also enjoys writing and drawing comics, and ball-point pen illustration.
Inheritance has been screened in festivals across North America and Europe, including the Ottawa International Animation Festival. Mike is currently busy at work shooting his follow up film, as well as writing and preparing other short films and television pilots.
