11 Questions with MICHAEL WILMOT. A WILDsound WINTER 2009 One Page Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

Two people meeting in a coffee shop on a journey of discovery.

2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?

Actually, I just found the Wildsound webpage and thought it sounded like a fun challenging idea!

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

This is the first one

4. What is you all-time favorite film? (name only one)

Fiddler on The Roof

5. What artist in the film industry would you love to work with?

David Mamet

6. How many screenplays have you written?

One...this one!

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

I would like to be able to write and be paid for it. Ideally be able to support myself by writing. More realistically, have writing as a supplement. However, the money is really secondary to wanting to have my work produced and recognized.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I tend to write in "spurts". I'll write a lot for a short time, then for a while nothing at all. I don't start with a plan or points I want to hit through the piece. I have a beginning (obviously) and sometimes and end (subject to change!) then just let it happen organically by asking my self "What would the most likely (or least likely) thing this character would do/say next?"

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

My friends

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

The challenge 11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Well, I would hope people vote for mine, I think it would make an interesting, entertaining short film but that's just my opinion! In the end, that's up to them isn't it?
