Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Michael Capellupo has been on the move since he was eighteen, living in New Orleans and Los Angeles before settling in Toronto as a Landed Immigrant in 1995.
His screenplay credits are as varied as the cities he has lived in: 20:13-Thou Shalt Not Kill, The Hustle, both MOW thrillers; the independent dark comedy, Aaron Gillespie Will Make You A Star; and A Promise, a dramatic short starring Gordon Pinsent, where he also served as associate producer on the latter two films. He has written for and performed with the world-renowned sketch comedy troupe, The Groundlings' Sunday Show in Los Angeles, and has studied acting at Playhouse West with Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum, where he also acted in and wrote several plays.
His production company, Panic Pictures Inc., founded with director Brett Sullivan (Ginger Snaps: Unleashed) and producer/agent Douglas Patterson (Winter Sun,) has completed its first feature, The Chair (Grindstone Entertainment/Lions Gate), a supernatural drama penned by Michael. The film has garnered two awards: Best Feature at ShriekFest 2007 and Best Horror/Sci-Fi at the 2007 Eugene International Film Festival. In development at Panic Pictures is a dark comedy Denise's Back!, a twisted tale of revenge, murder and unrequited incestuous love. Also in the works are a crime comedy, 3 Keys and a B&B (story by Michael Kennedy), and The Good Brother, a supernatural drama co-written with Elaine Chang and funded by Telefilm’s Writers First Program.In a previous life, Michael eked out a living as an actor and his credits include: American Prince: The JFK, Jr. Story, Made In Canada, More Tears, Deep In My Heart, A Tale Of Two Bunnies, Steal This Movie, Half A Dozen Babies, Thanks Of A Grateful Nation and series regular on Nickelodeon’s On The Television, and CBS’s kids show, Riders In The Sky. Also, he has appeared in two-dozen forgettable but lucrative commercials.
While in New Orleans he found time to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting from Loyola University with honours. Outside of work, Michael is a big supporter of Foster Parents Plan and a life-long baseball fan, rooting for the 2006 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals, and of course, the Toronto Blue Jays.
