Melina Leon (Perú, 1977) is currently completing her MFA in Film directing at the School of the Arts of Columbia University, New York. She was director and founder of Manzana Azul, a digital video production company that specialized in documentaries and commercial videos. Her short film A 45 FOR THE MONTH'S EXPENSES won the first prize from the National Film Council and was exhibited at several Peruvian TV networks. SILENCIO, a 30-minute film she produced, won the Robert Altman prize at the Kansas Film Festival and was screened in Los Angeles, Chicago and San Diego Latino Film Festivals, among many other international film events. Melina has also worked as a costume supervisor in the period feature EL BIEN ESQUIVO (AKA THE GOOD BASTARD). She has received a number of fellowships from Columbia University and works there as a Teaching Assistant. Melina just finished GIRL WITH A WALKMAN, her 5th short film as a director, and is currently developing MI FIRST SONG, her first feature project.
