Matthew Lessner was born in July of 1983 and began making films soon thereafter. His hometown of rural Roseburg, Oregon provided the ideal training ground for a young filmmaker with an eye for the unusual.
Matthew's early films focused on such diverse subject matter as the Cuban Missle crisis, The Construction of the Suez Canal and The untimely death of Rock Drummer Keith Moon. He began to amass his reputation as a showstopper and a braggart soon after completion of his 1990 film Vanity Plates.
By this sophmore year in High School, Matthew had achieved local cult status as a result of his numerous films had in conjunction with regional fundraisers and rallies. He had also started his own small production company, Monte Lomax Productions, Producing local commercials and industrial films.
Matthew attended Chapman University where his filmmaking continued to adapt and mature. He received several grants and scholarships from the school, and was thereby allowed the opportunity to make several short films on the school's dime.
In March 2005, Matthew began production on his largest project to date, Darling, Darling, starring Arrested Development's Michael Cera.
Matthew is currently at work on several feature length scripts and hopes to shoot his first feature length film in 2006.
