Martin Scorsese - Born in New York in 1942, Scorsese sidestepped the priesthood to pursue his passion for film. Garnering attention for his work in NYU’s film school, he had the means to direct his first feature by 1967, I Call First; with support from influential directors of the era, Scorsese’s own legend was born with 1973’s Mean Streets. He continued to helm many classic tales of gritty urban machismo, often featuring the Italian heritage, NYC, and Bobbie De Niro. Nominated for eight Oscars, Martin won Best Director for 2006’s The Departed. Scorsese is currently developing a Sinatra biopic, potentially starring his 2000s muse Leonardo DiCaprio.
