Maria Theodorakis BioMaria Theodorakis is an award winning Australian actor(AFI, Film Critics Circle) with a strong resume of film,television and theatre credits. In addition to her being infront of the camera, Maria has been concentrating oncreating her own work and has been developing severalprojects for the screen (writing and directing). Car Lady & Bike Girl is her first short. “Car Lady and Bike Girl” was inspired by Maria's time living inToronto and experiencing both sides of the social divide.It was also made in response to Maria's preconceived idea ofCanada’s social system and my belief that it would be amore equal society. What I found was the incredibly richand extremely poor, and more homeless people living on thestreets than I had ever seen in any other western city.This was especially shocking to her during the winter wheresome people would set up home on the corner of majorintersections, above the grates that would emit heat fromthe subway, only to be walked around by the suit clad andshopping bag heavy pedestrians.
