11 Questions with MARC GATSCHNER. A WILDsound SUMMER 2009 One Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

Years after loosing his sight a man shares with us the one image and moment that he is able to remember before having his world plungedinto a seemingly forever darkness.

2. Why did you decide to write this screenplay?

The five senses have always been something that intrigues me. They are something most of us take for granted every day and I wantedto show how beautiful and remarkable they truly are.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

I started writing screenplays when I was fifteen years old which means I've been at this for almost fifteen years.

4. What film have you seen the most in your lifetime?

A tie between Jaws and a Christmas Carol(1951) starring Alastair Sim.

5. What artist in the industry would you love to work with?

With out a doubt Steven Spielberg.

6. Who was your hero growing up?

Steven Spielberg.

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Walking out of a movie theater with my wife and kids and being able to tell them that daddy helped make thatpicture.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

I'll generally brainstorm a few ideas and than write a short outline for each one. Once I've done that I'll read them over and see which onereally inspires me. Than after I have my idea picked out and I've decided what genre it will be I tend to watch a few of my favorite films from that genrefor further inspiration. Than I sit down and I write and than I write some more.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Life in general. There are so many amazing things to be part of in this world that I don't know how anyone could notfind a passion in that.

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

As long as I can remember I've wanted to tell stories and this was a great opportunity to do that.

11. Influence people to vote for your one page script?

Because hopefully they'll like it.
