Malik Simpson is from Waycross, Georgia. I am a screenplay writer and aspiring filmmaker. As a child, I went to the movies all the time. At home, I started to write and illustrate storybooks and comicbooks. As a teenager, I started to study the history of films, and learn about legendary films and filmmakers.
At the recommendation of a teacher of mine, who knew about my interest in filmmaking and storytelling, I started to work as a stagehand at a local Ritz Theatre.
As an adult, I stopped focusing as heavily on movies, and went to work with my father, painting houses for a while. Then, I decided to start writing screenplays. I worked at a Youth Detention Center by day, and at evening, I focused on writing screenplays and studying about scriptwriting. The WILDsound One Page Screenplay Contest is the second screenplay contest that I have entered into.
