LARRY STORCH JOKERJoker Actor 1968: The Superman/Batman Hour by Andrew Kosarko
Uh, let’s just get this one over with. You know the Jim Carrey Grinch? That’s the voice. The Joker’s logic or actions make no sense….even for him. I mean, it comes off like a script written by a 3rd grader and then re-written by an adult who doesn’t take anything seriously. I watched an episode in which the Joker dodges a boomerang thrown by Robin (voiced by Kasey Kasem...right…we won’t touch that one) and henceforth throughout the episode Robin consistently screws up the catching of the Joker by taking out Batman accidentally. And that was the Joker’s plan all along…which 3 days after watching the episode twice I’m still at a loss as to what exactly that plan was. The animation for this series is poor, returning to several of the same plates for the Joker to give a completely un-necessary speech recapping everything in the last scene and exactly what will happen in the next scene.
Even a five year old would be like “yeah, I got it.” The point is, even for animation this is not a good adaptation of the Joker. Not memorable and definitely not lending anything to the Joker mythology. Any supervillain and their brother could speak the plot and laugh maniacally. Spare me. And spare yourselves money on the DVD set for this – it ain’t worth it. Even for nostalgia’s sake.
