REVIEW:

The time to find out if I was made of steel, tough as nails found me at the age of twelve. Tonight I become a man, he said, and then the gun was placed in my hands. And all I had to do was pull the trigger, but how could I take a life that I knew? And gunshots rang out, but the bullets were not fired by me.

Are we nothing but a name, a name that would alter any decision that would affect our life? If our name held a connection to fear, trouble, would doors never open, and would opportunity refuse to look us in the eye? And what we wish to be, what we want to do cannot come true because of who we are, where we came from, and how can we live the life that we want to live when all we have is our name?

The past is our foundation, but sometimes we try to tear it down. Family is the bond that holds us, but sometimes we try to cut the ties that bind. And the games of life places the world upon our shoulders but never in our hands, and we will always be a million miles away from where we want to be. But if we give up, if we accept our fate, then nothing could be said about us because we never tried. We never tried to become more than what we don't want to be.

The world of sports was his passion, but he came from a world of crime. And no matter how hard he struggled against the ties that bind did Matty find himself stuck between the life that he wanted and the life that he might have to live, and as the doors slam close, only one remained open. And maybe it was time for him to finally accept the family business.

But a simple errand slips through his fingers and falls into the wrong hands, and he and his friends only have a small window of time to take back what belongs to them. But not everyone is playing by the same rules, and their mistake may cost them their lives. And as the guns are raised does Matty find himself once again in the line of fire, but could he pull the trigger? Could he take another life before they take his?

The power of money holds the key to corruption, and once that key is turned, there is no turning back. And winner takes all, and all bets are off. But as guns silence life does betrayal reveal itself, and the ties that bind cut deep, drawing blood. And the trigger is pulled, and another door opens, leading Matty to live a different life.

Crime stories are the essence of Drama, thrilling us with the intensity of cops versus mobsters, but the heart of this tale beats deep, striking the chords to our soul. And we are moved along the struggle of one man trying to break free, but at the same time, he lets himself fall back into a life that he knows he does not want. But he is trapped by his name, and his story of finding the life to live holds our minds in hand, filling us with compassion and intrigue. And the story winds up, hurling a fastball of conspiracy and betrayal that hits home, and the race to find oneself strikes deep. And we find ourselves held by captivating characters brought to life through an all-star cast in the movie, Knockaround Guys.
