KAMELL ALLAWAY PODCAST - Kamell chats about his short film COMPLEX NUMBERS and his body of work at the young age of 20!
Kamell Allaway grew up in the cow town turned city Chino Hills. At a very young age he was making home movies and filming anything that could evolve into a story. He religiously used his parent’s Hi-8 video camera until he got his own digital camera. He began filming short comedic sketches, which he digitally edited for the viewing of his family and friends.
Upon entering high school, Kamell began to take film more seriously and he shot multiple short films. He made his first feature film at the age of 16 and edited two 35mm shorts. Since then Kamell has written, produced, and directed over 15 short films, ranging from miniDV to 35mm. Most of his productions have consisted of a one-man-crew, making Kamell the writer, producer, director, cinematographer, editor, and composer for many of his movies. He has studied at the New York Film Academy, University of Southern California, Yale University, and Cal State University Northridge, which is where he currently continues to study film at the age of 20.
