I started on a new animation project that has been more work for me then I am usually use to.
Having to adjust from live action, grown up drama to thinking like a cool teenager has been a challenge for me for sure. I now realize that I am an aging nerd.
Other Jahnke diversions
I haven't been able to devote my time solely to the animated project because I was bombarded with re-write request.
I worked on the pilot of a new show airing in September and the producer needed me to work along with another writer on bringing the script up to snuff.
It was a great experience. I never collaborated before and always dreaded it but it was very painless and egoless so I am happy with my contribution. Now I look forward to working with other fellow screenwriters if the opportunity arises.
Joyce experiences the revision blues
I also had to rewrite one of my scripts which is being filmed in Downtown L.A. this month.
The producer and director wanted me to add a monologue of two and I ended up changing the entire ending. I am some-what satisfied with the final draft.
I always have the feeling that I could have done better. I think most writers do.
A screenplay can be rewritten forever but someone (the producer or director) needs to step in and say "Okay this is fine let's get to shooting".
Joyce's "Love on the Brink" update
I haven't been doing much in regards to my film "Love on the Brink".
I have made two decisions since my last blog.
Decision one, is to DIRECT the film myself and move my Director into Assist. Director mode.
Decision two, is to look into other cities to film it instead of NYC as originally planned out. NYC is still number one on the list but unless you have A LOT of money the city is making it hard to film on its street.
So now I am looking for a production company in any city USA or CA to assist me with filming what I consider my "BABY". It's a four location short and I am confident that I can mimic NYC and save a bundle.
