Jon Knautz born was and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada he began studying film in high school, developing many short films. He has taken a number of film courses over the years (including directing, producing, camera, writing and editing workshops) and he has attended the Summer Institute of Film and Television in Gatineau Quebec for both beginning and advanced directing.
In 2002 Jon completed the Film Foundation program at the Vancouver Film School, Upon graduation he directed the short film “Apt. 310” , which went on to play eleven film festivals, it later went on to win two awards for best short film. It was sold to Hypnotic, a short film distribution company, and has since played on TMN.
In 2004, Jon received a grant from the Canadian government to develop a short film “The Other Celia”. At this time, he began working for a company called Brookstreet Pictures; an Ottawa based film Production Company where he directed his latest short film “Still Life”.
