John Huston: Born in Missouri in 1906,Huston was an early performer alongside his vaudevillian father. Young adulthood found him on Broadway, and after dabbling in a variety of arts Huston settled on screenwriting. His script for 1941’s The Maltese Falcon earned him the director’s chair on the film; a critical and popular hit of classic proportions, John’s Hollywood status was sealed. He won Best Director and Screenplay Oscars for 1948’s The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and had thirteen additional nominations for directing, writing, and even acting. John Huston died in 1987.
