John Ford was born in Maine in 1894, Ford followed his older brother to Hollywood, both as actors. He began directing as early as his late teens, and was soon known for the Western genre in particular. John became arguably one of our most important directors, with six Academy Awards for such films as the back-to-back The Grapes of Wrath and How Green Was My Valley, and definitively represents the gold standard of Americana on the silver screen. John Ford died in 1973.
